Pieces of A Life Film
An independent short film I produced and directed as part of my MFA thesis. Written by a Bahamian screenwriter and shot on location in Nassau, the film explores memory, identity, and personal truth through an intimate, character-driven lens. Rooted in Bahamian culture and visually grounded in the beauty of the island, the story unfolds in fragments — inviting the audience to reflect on how the pieces of our past shape who we become.
As both producer and director, I led every stage of production to shape and execute the creative vision of Pieces of a Life — from assembling a cast and crew across two countries and managing logistics and budgeting, to guiding creative direction and post-production. The project allowed me to merge personal storytelling with professional-level execution, all while honoring the film’s cultural authenticity. It was a deeply meaningful experience that reflects both personal and cultural nuance — and pushed me to grow in both my creative and production leadership.
Logline and Synopsis
Defying a weather advisory, a recently widowed man chooses to remain in his home as a life-threatening hurricane barrels toward The Bahamas.
Pieces of a Life follows Richard, an elderly Bahamian man coping with the recent loss of his beloved wife, Marion. Clinging to their shared home and her belongings, he maintains every detail just as she left it — a fragile attempt at preserving normalcy.
When news of a powerful hurricane threatens the island, Richard dismisses the warnings. He’s weathered storms before. Through flashbacks, we glimpse the life and love he shared with Marion, even as his neighbor urges him to seek safer shelter. Richard refuses, determined to stay.
As the hurricane arrives, his efforts to protect the house are quickly overwhelmed. The film becomes a quiet meditation on grief, memory, and the uncontrollable forces — like love and loss — that shape our lives.

teaser and promotion
To build awareness and generate support for Pieces of a Life, I developed a promotional strategy that included a teaser trailer, an Indiegogo campaign, and curated social media content. The teaser — which I directed and edited — captures the emotional tone and visual style of the film, offering a glimpse into its central themes of grief, memory, and love.
I launched and managed the film’s presence on Instagram and Facebook, sharing behind-the-scenes moments, character insights, and campaign updates to engage and grow our audience. I also designed the Indiegogo page to align with the film’s aesthetic and message, helping generate early interest and financial support from our community.
