As the writer, director, and producer of this upcoming Bahamian short film, I’m leading the project through its early stages of development and pre-production. From crafting the narrative and assembling the creative team to managing logistics, scheduling, and early design elements, I’m deeply involved in shaping both the story and the production process. This film is a personal exploration of love, timing, and emotional honesty, and it's rooted in Bahamian culture and identity. It’s an exciting opportunity to continue growing as a filmmaker while bringing a fresh, locally grounded narrative to life.
When an overzealous girlfriend tries to plan the perfect anniversary date for her seemingly ideal relationship, she’s met with an unexpected reaction that could change everything.
Logline and Synopsis
On the night of their anniversary, Janae and Jason’s romantic plans take an unexpected turn. What begins as a celebration quickly unravels into a raw and emotional conversation about their future. Jason wants to start a family, but Janae isn’t ready — a difference that brings long-standing tensions to the surface. As the conversation deepens, revelations are made, priorities clash, and both are forced to confront the reality of where they stand.
Set in a single location over the course of one night, the film explores love, timing, and the quiet unraveling of a relationship. It ends on a haunting note — a baby’s cry in the distance — blurring the line between memory, desire, and unresolved emotion.

Tone and Theme
Inspired by emotionally charged films like Waves (2019) and Malcolm & Marie (2021), this short film dives headfirst into the raw complexities of a romantic relationship on the edge. The tone is serious, somber, and at times angry, capturing the fragile line between love, resentment, and the pain of growing apart. Set in the intimate surroundings of Jason's apartment —a place where the couple has shared countless memories— the audience is meant to feel the tension as the two characters clash, with each confrontation charged with intensity. Thin lines between love, hate, and resentment underscore the complexity of their relationship, drawing viewers into the emotional turmoil. The goal is for viewers to empathize with both sides, understanding the struggles each character faces.
At its core, the story explores the difficult truth that we can’t control everything in life, especially our partner’s choices. It explores the difficulty of embracing uncertainty while grappling with the resentment that arises when expectations are unmet and differences become more pronounced. Ultimately, the film reveals that through honest communication and acknowledging these emotions, there is potential for greater understanding and empathy.
